One of the major events of July was a prayer walk from Saint-Louis, France (near Basel, Switzerland), through Switzerland, into France again, all the way to Lyon (or Basel-Lyon for short!). - Family - Ok, now there is nothing for several weeks on our calendar but a blank slate. We all want to fill it differently! (no surprise there, I suppose) We all covet this time for our own desires, be they relational or task-oriented. Please pray that we would come together as a family to make the best investment of this time for all of us.
- Worship/Intercession - These 3-times-a-week worship/prayer sessions that I've been leading this summer (usually just leading myself!) have gone well so far, though they have had a schedule and focus that's fairly varied up until now. Now it's just pure and simple through to the 20th of August. Please pray that those who need to be involved in this make the time to do so and that this would be a foundational investment into what God is calling us into as a church, as well as an investment for me in seeking the Lord more deeply.
- Technology Work - Major changes need to take place this summer with the computer system at Collège-Daniel and it's up to me to get them done. It's not only a matter of getting accomplished that which I know how to do, there is a fair portion that will stretch my technical experience boundaries quite a bit. In addition there are some nagging technical issues that we need to get dealt with this summer. FULL PLATE. (Update: I've had some progress in "simpler" tasks, but there are some tasks of re-creating our current environment on a different server that are really blocking me right now...fairly frustrating!) Please pray for grace to solve technical problems and wisdom to bring all of the changes about that need to occur.
- YWAM Conference - August 22-25 is our annual YWAM, France conference. I missed it last year since Rachel was going away to Black Forest Academy for the first time. This is one of our few regular connections with YWAM, France at the moment. Additionally, I know the guest speaker and it is someone with whom I'm connected in different intercession activities in Europe. It's being held in the same place where we lived in the 2003-2004 school year during the YWAM School of Reconciliation and Olivia is going with me to see old friends from 3 years ago. So this is a time of important connecting for our family. Please pray for Olivia's and my relational connections (1st with each other on the drive) that the Lord would make the most of those few days. Pray also for the long drive with our 'round-about-town vehicle! ;c)
- Church Steps of Faith - Our church here (the "Joshua Church") continues to move forward in several HUGE steps of faith. There has been a sense for a while that God is calling us to more concretely move into ministering to our local community, and in so doing, using a building next door to our current meeting place as a tool for several different ministry projects. The building has been purchased by a close friend of the church's and now what awaits us is only the grace to say the big YES to taking on the rent of the building and moving forward in the various ministry projects for which vision has been flowing for some time. Our personal involvement is is also faith-testing. Please pray for a much deeper grounding, as a fellowship, in seeking the Lord together regularly. It's my personal conviction that the depth and strength of our foundation in the Lord is what He will be able to build upon in this season.
- School Year Prep - While the kids don't necessarily want to think about it, Angela and I need to think about what our involvement in school looks like this year. I'm fairly certain that for me, it's narrowed and deepened into the areas of just the computers and just the worship for the Junior High's, with no explicit/overt teaching roles. Angela needs some more clarity about her roles. We both need to come together more about what the worship context (chapel services, prep for that, student involvement, etc.) will look like this year. Please pray for heart conviction for us both as to what God is asking from us this year and specific direction for walking it out.
