Leigh Family Prayer Bulletin - January 2008

Feedback...

Noah's birthday went well. More importantly, I think our (Angela and I, and Noah) ongoing discussions about his future are beginning to deepen in importance as we all seek to understand the best educational path for him and how that future path affects the present. Destiny is being discovered (or at least ardently sought after)!

In follow-up to last month's request under "Establishing", this week I hope to schedule an appointment with the local employment office to find out what options might be available to earn some extra money with our current immigration status of "visitor." At the same time we'll be applying for Rachel's residence permit and I may schedule an appointment with our town's mayor to discuss our situation and explore options for improving it. Finances are probably the chief motivators in seeking a change in our immigration status since getting all our financial support via US dollars is severely affected by the negative exchange rate. At the same time we're trying to be attentive to what God is saying through various circumstances and regularly renewing our trust in Him to establish us where He wants us.

Please Pray...

  • Health - We've had a quiet Christmas break mostly because we've been sick (one after the other in the family) for the last 2 1/2 weeks with a flu that's kept us house-bound. We're coming out of it but please pray for renewed strength for getting back into school rhythm on the 7th.

  • Balance - Running up to a mid-December meeting with a well-known healing evangelist in our new church facility I (David) needed to put a lot of time an effort into the physical move and setup of sound and computer equipment at church. As such, my time at school was greatly diminished. Time to catch up! Of course, there remains much to do at church and the move of the sound equipment has revealed more things that need to be repaired/maintained. So, at the moment I need some real wisdom and grace about how to balance and prioritize my time (and that includes with Angela and the kids too!). Please pray for God's enabling grace and wisdom and a new understanding of how to rest in His supernatural control instead of my human efforts and wisdom.

  • Launching - This isn't just a "January thing", but for both Rachel and Noah the speed is picking up for orienting them in the right direction and launching them. For Rachel it's the college-thing with applications for school and scholarships and the logistics of moving her to the States in June. For Noah it's the beginning of the orientation process in the French school system while the discussion remains lively as to what path he needs to follow at the end of 9th grade. Additionally, Rachel has much to do before graduation and Noah is still in a difficult situation with his class that needs God's intervention to make it positive for the next 1 1/2 years. Please pray for both Rachel and Noah in this time of change and searching and adjustment. Pray for Angela and me, as we need much wisdom and discernment.

  • 2008 - Take a moment to pray for yourselves right now (you can include us in this one too!) Pray that you would catch the wind of God's Holy Spirit during this year. Pray that you would be willing to be transformed in your thinking and actions. Pray that you would see more of the big picture of what God is doing in the earth, in your locality, and your part in that. Pray that your heart would burn for more of Him as you walk in obedience to what He asks you to do.

Until next time,
David
