Leigh Family Prayer Bulletin - April 2008

Feedback...

A light at the end of the tunnel? Perhaps...at least for our schedule. The end of this 2-3 months of relatively intense activity ends aptly this evening at Jesus' feet. We have an intimate worship gathering (could only be 3 people!) planned for this evening as Thierry Chevalley, a Swiss friend who is on staff with the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City comes through Guebwiller to help us spend a bit of "Mary of Bethany time." I'm certainly in need of it!

A few responses from last month's prayer bulletin:

  • Rachel has received a letter about her residence permit application with a request that she take the routine physical exam and pay the tax/fees associated with the application. This, I believe is a positive sign that the application will be accepted. Rachel's acceptance as an adult in France bodes well for our own process of a more stable immigration status according to the mayor's office.
  • This was truly a month full of new and renewed relational connections that we know will bear fruit...both across France, Europe and the Atlantic as well. Very, very rich...though at the same time requiring effort and perseverance. This really felt like a month of "investing." Looking forward to the annual stockholder's report!
  • For our friends praying about their involvement France, some definite directional steps forward have come forth this month. Thank you for those prayers.
  • The municipal elections did not end up with any of our friends in the town council. While initially a bit confusing (what what that all about Lord?) the increased understanding of what God is doing and how He is moving in the political and local governmental process right now is very encouraging and lays a good foundation for new steps of obedience in this area.

Please Pray...

  • Schooling - Noah's school situation is not very encouraging at the moment. As it is somewhat sensitive, I'll not go into details, but suffice to say we're wondering if changes need to be/can be made even as soon as next year. Please pray for a faith-filled perspective on our part. Discouragement will not reign in this house! Pray for creative solutions and live-giving attitudes about school.

  • April Break - Our spring break starts at the end of this week. This is a welcome arrival! I (David) need some extra grace from the Lord on how to spend this time correctly! :) School breaks are times where certain kinds of computer work at school can be done that can't be done during regular school weeks. What's more is that our full months recently have stolen from computer maintenance time at school. What's even more is that theoretically, I may have the "help" of a young technically-minded, but untrained youth from our church (Samuel). I really welcome this opportunity to sow into his life before he starts some formal training in November and I welcome the chance to work on the computers when no students are there. So, where's the break in all of that? Aye...there's the rub...and the prayer request. Please pray for wisdom to handle these two weeks of break in ways that sow into my relationship with the Lord, with my family, with Samuel, and into the work of the Christian School...in that order!

I don't want to say much more than that, because I think that this issue of entering into a healthy and life-giving season of rest is such a challenge and is so vital in the immediate "now" but also in the season of where were are in our lives, our families, our ministry activities...and even for where the Church at large needs to go.

Thank you for your prayers!
David
