Leigh Family Prayer Bulletin - October 2008

Our adjustments:

  • Rachel - Her "mini-term" is over and she starts a full load on Monday. Adjustments have been plentiful and profound (and continue) but this has been a month of rich new experiences as well. This now marks as long as she's been away from us at a stretch, and she misses us a tiny bit...we must have done something right ;-)
  • Noah - He's definitely more at home at BFA than he was at a French school and is finding his niche, notably with photography. His gallery is growing by leaps and bounds. I'm just not sure he misses us enough though!
  • Olivia - There are "new blossoms" sprouting in her life as she adjusts to being the only kid at home. It's exciting to watch her bloom in her confidence and in her spiritual growth. There is still a strong closeness she needs...perhaps more than ever. How convenient that we're able to dote just on her now!
  • David - My schedule, including extra daily worship times and a Saturday sabbath is a wonderful thing. I'm still needing to watch out for over-commitments and distractions sneaking in, but I'm really desiring to keep this schedule throughout this school year if possible. It's very rich.
  • Angela - My schedule adjustment has had a very positive impact on Angela...and she wanted to make sure that I let you all know! Her other adjustment is that she is teaching a bit this year after all. Twice a week she takes two boys with learning disabilities and works with them on all sorts of non-core subjects. She has a blank slate to create...her favorite position to be in. Her creative juices are also flowing as she prepares to share with Olivia's pack of girlfriends about loving Jesus first before the boys start to crowd in.
  • The House - After looking at what's on offer for the price that our house could fetch...well...let's just say that our house doesn't bother us quite so much any more! We have the patience to wait for just the right opportunity to present itself.

Please Pray...

  • Youth Group Worship - Tomorrow (Saturday) night, we're "leading" a "worship experiment" time with our church youth group. It's our desire to sow into them new ways to worship...to break molds and to exercise their hearts. We're finding out the last minute, however, that things are not quite as organized as we had hoped and so there is probably more liberty for us to do what we want (what do we want to do exactly?!) but also more weight falling on our shoulders than we had previously thought. Please pray for a connection at the heart-level with the kids tomorrow...for their hearts with the Lord and us with them.

  • Princess Prep - As I mentioned above, Angela is planning on teaching Olivia's girlfriends. She's entitling the series of meetings, How to become a real Princess in seven weeks, pulling together material from the Song of Solomon, films, books, etc. At the end of the seven weeks, hopefully we'll see that the girls desire to continuing studying. Please pray for Angela's inspiration in combining all the material together and in teaching it. Pray for the right girls to be involved, as well as any other adults who need to be involved.

  • Franco-Anglo connections - Monday, 13 Australians descend upon school for a few days. Most of my responsibilities where with planning their trip here. It's brief but there may be occasions arise where some translation will be needed. Toward the end of the month, a lady who feels called to France with whom we've been in fairly close contact for the last year or so, will be visiting us. She's currently in Paris in language school so she's already made huge strides in following God's call on her life. She doesn't know what's next after language school and her visit to us falls in the category of both seeking counsel/pray and spying out the land. We know her situation very well! Please pray our time with her (Alana) starting on the 24th that we could be a channel of God's wisdom and direction for her. Pray for Alana to make the heart connections that God has for her during her current season in language school. Pray also for her provision as this is a total faith venture for her.

  • Malware Jungle - Our main computer is ailing with a bug of some sort right now. Looks to be evasive and messy. It's disrupted much of our normal "family administration." NO fun at all. Please pray for discernment on my part and a freedom from too much "distraction" with respect to that.

Thanks for walking with us!
David
