Leigh Family Prayer Bulletin - February 2006

Feedback...

Ok, straight away to the most important issue of last month's prayer:

  • "Gumdrop" the kitten (I'm sure a picture will soon grace the web site...or perhaps an ensuing regular newsletter) has, in fact, spread his/her "cuteness factor" further into our home. I'm resigned to buying more cat food for this our 3rd (2nd and a half?) cat(though I think that the first vet bill may be more difficult to swallow!) and Gumdrop seems to be slightly less skittish around my presence. Perhaps my glacial heart is starting to melt...a bit...
  • Speaking of my heart (physically), I've had a blood test that came back all fine (eliminating some possibilities of health problems) and went back to the doctor once full of anxiety about the way I felt. In fact, God has been doing an amazing work on dealing with fear and anxiety in me. This is work that must still go deeper but it's already a great answer to prayer.
  • Our time in England was wonderful. A great change of pace, rich time with our friends there and the blessing of seeing Narnia in English! Loved Narnia...love our friends...Thank you Lord!
  • We've settled into the school routine again. Angela in particular has picked up the pace in several areas of responsibility...especially creative areas. It's work that gives her much satisfaction, but we are all glad that we have 2 weeks of vacation the week of the 12 of Feb.
  • It will be a vacation only from school however. There will be plenty of things occupying us. I'll try and get the calendar up-to-date so that you can keep up with your specific prayers!
  • We've seen some real participation with the students in chapel. That is a real blessing. We also heard that in the 3rd trimester, there are some students signed-up for the worship workshop that I had proposed at the beginning of the year. I don't think that they really understand what they are signing up for, but I do see it, together with their increased chapel participation as an answer to prayer. God is stirring something in their hearts. You may have to look closely to see it from the exterior, but there is something there!

Please Pray...

  • David's Physical Health - Tomorrow I visit a cardiologist to have a consultation and a resting EKG test. I did this about 10 years ago and it's time again to make sure that things are ok inside, what with my recent health issues. I'm actually looking forward to it as I'm confident that whether they find something or not, I'm on the road to improving my health and I'd like to get about it in a more purposeful way. Please pray for a solid physical foundation to build on and the grace to really move forward with getting in shape.
  • Ministry - We have a full plate this month. This coming weekend is the regional intercession weekend. The 14th is an assembly in Strasbourg to commemorate and repent for a Jewish massacre in 1349 where 2000 Jews were burned alive because they suspected them of starting The Plague. We'll be doing some worship there. The weekend of the 17th-19th is a Christian Education seminar at our school that we will be attending and helping with. The same weekend, we lead worship at church. This is followed by a week of worship, intercession and fasting at church. Please pray for stamina, time-management, sensitivity to each other and to The Spirit.
  • Finances - We're really working on getting our finances to be more stable by storing up the "fat times" for the "lean times" and have made some changes to structure our cash flow somewhat better. Unfortunately, we've been hit with some unexpected things recently like vacuum cleaners that just quit and seem to need $100 replacement parts. Dryers that just quit and need $70 replacement parts. $50 prescriptions, etc. Pray for perseverance!! ;c)
  • Rachel's Schooling - We need to have Rachel's application in for her school next year by the end of the month...and it's pretty extensive! We have the info packet and have also seen things like recommendations for her to have a computer. Pray for our ability to get all this administration done and for funds to come in by this summer for a computer for Rachel.
  • Immigration - I got a call about 2 weeks ago from the immigration folks with two questions about our dossier: What is the source of our income and just what are we doing here in France? These are the two questions I dread the most from the French government. I hope I explained well. The lady said that we'd receive some notification the following week. We've not received anything yet. Please pray for favor with the French government and that our roots would go down deep in French soil! ;c)
Until next month!

David
