Leigh Family Prayer Bulletin - December 2005

Feedback...

  • God continues to meet all our financial needs...even when it seems we've come to the "limit of our faith". As Angela mentioned in her newsletter, a surprise gift came at just the right time to help us be able to celebrate Noah's birthday tomorrow.
  • There was a clothing store that recently went out of business and the leaders of our school found out about getting some of the clothes donated to teachers' families...and we were included. There was lots of stuff...brand new...for Olivia. What a blessing!
  • The activities of Armistice Day and at Berlin were great blessings and, we believe, important spiritual milestones in Europe. For a full report on each, please see my Blog page.
  • To add on to Angela's item about good news for Noah's schooling, we'd like to brag a bit about how he's got the best math grade in his class now and just yesterday he went to the Soultz library with Angela. This would not previously have interested him because the books are all in French (duh). Anyway, this time, he was enthralled to be there. Both of these are clear evidence that your prayers for him and learning French are being answered!
  • To continue with Noah, even when corrected at school there's a blessing behind it: He had to write 50 times, "I will pay attention in class" the other day because...he was talking to a girl in class. At this point, this is a problem I'm glad to have with him!

Please Pray...

  • Special Children = Special Challenges: As you may remember, Angela is teaching music to some of the younger age groups this year. This, in itself, has been a challenge of extra responsibility and preparation, but it has not been without its rewards. One thing that has continued to be extra challenging is the presence of 2 kids with some learning disabilities.

One of the things that this school has been wonderful for is their willingness to embrace children whose scholastic situation is difficult...for any number of reasons. In this, there is special time apart for them in core academic subjects and mainstream time in other subjects. They connect relationally very well with the others, and I believe it does something powerful, not just for them, but in the spirit realm also. This is especially true in France where they didn't even recognize dyslexia until a couple of years ago! This is a nation which worships the intellect and consequently, to speak with actions of the worth of all people in this way is vitally important.

But, that doesn't make it easy for the teachers! Angela has had a very difficult time with these two boys, Victor and Florent. Please pray for wisdom and patience and creative solutions for Angela to somehow bring the joy of God's gift of music to these two boys as well as to those who are more easily able to follow her lessons.
  • Immigration: We are still waiting on the French government (who told us that we would receive some sort of notice in November) to let us know what the next step is in solidifying our immigration status here. In the meantime, we just turned in our annual dossier to renew our residence permits, which expire the 12th of December. We are scheduled to go to England the 31st of December. Please pray that all immigration details are guided by the Lord's hand with no enemy interference. Likewise for the residence permit renewal so that getting back in the country doesn't become a problem.
  • Health: Olivia is bouncing back from a cold and now Angela is feeling something. Please pray for healing and health protection for the family.
  • Banners! Angela begins her banner workshop at school for 2 hours every other Friday. Pray for energy and grace and creativity for her and for the kids to catch a vision to discover their creative gifts and to use them for the Lord.
  • Ministry: We're in the process of trying to look at some ministry opportunities in the summer. What is difficult is that our regular ministry is becoming more and more connected with the scholastic year. Consequently, summer-oriented ministry activities are a bit more difficult to envision. Please pray for wisdom and unity as we try and understand the ministry/rest cycle that the Lord has for us.
  • Christmas Season: Please pray for a renewed perspective for us all on Jesus' advent as the God who humbled Himself completely to take our form so that He could connect with us completely!
Until next month!

David
