Leigh Family Prayer Bulletin - July 2005

"Jericho March" around one of the MANY monuments to the dead in France - this next to the Murbach Abbey

Janglin' Keys

We've just finished 2 powerful days of intercession for the immediate region (our little valley) and for Alsace in general. We were privileged to have Martin Scott and Steve Lowton from the UK come and join us for an "exploratory" time. Their ministry, Sowing Seeds For Revival might best be described as "catalytic". They bring insight and experience about finding God's destiny for a specific geographic region; typically partnering with a region over a span of years with regular visits. This enables the Body of Christ in that area to better understand their circumstances and experiences and better target their prayers and energies to see breakthrough.

A significant piece of input given by Martin and Steve was that this region (both the immediate region and Alsace) is a "Gateway" region with a character like the city of Philadelphia in Revelation 3:7-13. In this passage, Jesus tells the church at Philadelphia that He has keys (v7) for them for opening and shutting and in verses 8 & 9 that it is important to see. We are praying for this region that we would receive Jesus' revelation for us and that we would use the keys He gives us for opening gates for the Kingdom of God in the region.

The time spent was extremely beneficial for all involved and we look forward to whatever God wants to do with this brief time of connection.

Thanks!

Last month (ok, last week), I asked for prayer about two things: The time with Martin Scott and Steve Lowton (mentioned above), and Rachel's end of year exams (which happened at the same time).

We won't have the results for awhile but according to Rachel, it went very well. She actually came home energized each night (2 full days of tests) as she found the atmosphere peaceful and had a real sense of satisfaction and accomplishment for the year.

Thank you Lord and thank you to all of you who prayed for both things.

July, A Full Agenda

For many, July represents the beginning of vacation. Though the kids are out of school, it's only the rhythm and focus that changes for us...not completely a vacation of rest. Here are some highlights:

  • Rachel gets baptized!
  • Rachel turns 16!
  • My (David's) parents visit for 3 weeks
  • Noah and I and my parents visit Normandy
  • Our family (with my parents) participate in a YWAM Family Camp in Switzerland where we will be leading worship

July starts tomorrow...I think it will feel like it's over the day after!grfather.gif

Please Pray...

Here are what I see as the important emphases of prayer this month:

  • Increased Vision: Following on what we heard about our region as a Philadelphia/Gateway region, it's vital that we continue to press into the Lord, receive His revelation and walk in obedience to it!
  • Rachel's Rites of Passage: Please pray for Rachel's baptism on July 3rd and her 16th birthday July 10th. This is a significant time of transition in her life and two milestones that are worth noting and remembering.
  • Camp Preparation: We have much to do with respect to rehearsing and song preparation for the Family Camp in the end of July where we lead worship. Please pray for a real unity and inspiration as we give ourselves to both the "family" and "worship" aspects of our calling.
  • Financial Challenges: We have some unusually high bills due in July (notably quarterly health insurance, bi-annual water bill). Additionally, we have a challenge of some home renovation that must be done. Our neighbors are demolishing a building on their property that touches our wall and its removal necessitates many changes. The work begins probably in September and our first estimate of the part that concerns us is 4,000 Euros (around 4,800 Dollars). Pray for wisdom and faith to continue to walk forward looking at our situation from God's perspective.

Until next month!

David
