Leigh Family Prayer Bulletin - June 2005 |
|
Brave New World Welcome to the new "look and feel" of our prayer bulletin. At the occasion of our re-vamped web site, I thought that it would be good to try something new for the prayer bulletin as well. I can't guarantee that what you're looking at now will stay this way. It's definitely a work-in-progress (as is our new web site). The prayer bulletin is very late this month mostly because we were working on the web site and I didn't want to make any modifications to the old site (like posting this prayer bulletin)...just the new one. A Reminder I'll use this occasion to remind you that we do two different "newsletters" on a regular basis. What you're reading is what I have started calling our "Prayer Bulletin" to differentiate it from our regular or "general" Newsletter. I (David) try and send this one out at the end of each month to give you an indication of how to pray for us in the upcoming month. It's a smaller list than the list of everyone who gets our general newsletter. We started doing this 2nd newsletter at the end of 2001 because we felt that God was saying that we needed more prayer covering to continue in what He had called us to do...and it's true! Angela usually writes the other one and it covers a much broader range of topics about our life and activities. As she's not written hers recently either, I've no idea of how it will look, but we'll try and make them look a bit different. We appreciate that your mailboxes are quite full (like ours) and so we want to help you understand why you're getting 2 different things from us and what the difference is. |
Thanks! Last month, I asked for prayer about two things: Our dear friend Vanessa Stewart and the diagnosis of breast cancer, and direction about employment for me. Vanessa's operation went smoothly and considering the gravity in general of breast cancer, the prognosis is positive. She has begun chemotherapy. The series of treatments should last about 1 year. So, she and her family have a hard road to walk ahead of them and we and they certainly appreciate your continued prayer. For understanding what God wants for us with respect to employment, etc., I can't say that we have a huge amount of new clarity. I have been approached by a fellow missionary who is beginning a business whose goal is to raise money for the Kingdom of God. He has asked if I would be interested in creating/maintaining a web site for the business with the idea that some portion of the proceeds that the web site generates would come back to us. I have agreed and we'll see where that goes. Incidentally, that seems to be a business model that would work with our ministry activities, so if you know of anyone who would be interested in such an arrangement, please let us know. Keepin' Up To Date
We will keep this calendar up-to-date with our up-coming activities, especially those for which we want prayer! So, when you pray, take a look at the calendar to see what is happening on the day you pray or the next few upcoming days. Some of you agreed some time ago to pray for us a certain day each month. Hopefully this will help you for when you pray on your specific day. If you'd like to choose a month each day to pray, that would be great. We'd appreciate knowing about it as it helps us pray for you! As always, we would like to hear your prayer requests as well! The Rest Of June There is not much "June, 2005" left and I'll try and get back on schedule with a newsletter at the end of June for July (it's a big month!). Please take a look at the calendar and get used to going there for prayer ideas. I'd like to highlight 2 things to pray for here in June:
Until next month! (week?) David |
