Leigh Family Prayer Newsletter - July 2004

June 29, 2004

We're finally discovering the dust that's been hidden and collecting for 10 months. Yes that's right, we're moving out of the Oasis Center finally! Tomorrow (the 30th) we actually move out and will be staying at a house of some friends who are away right now. We'll have to come back and clean (a LOT) and then we continue the wait for the move up north to Alsace.

It's a trying time right now as I have a cold and Angela is recovering from one...feelin' weak! Additionally, the first try to wire our funds from the US to France has failed so we're exploring just how to get the money across the Atlantic!! I had hoped to move this weekend but it looks unlikely that the funds will be there in time. The large rental truck that we had hoped to use (plenty of space) was already rented until September. So now we're planning on renting something smaller and wondering how we'll deal with any "leftovers" if it doesn't all fit.

We are, of course, not alone in this state as nearly everyone in the Reconciliation School is involved in a similar move of faith into the next thing that God has for them...usually with the same sort of trials surrounding their transition. (In an upcoming general newsletter we'll give you a run-down of the results of the Reconciliation School.)

So God has us right where He wants us...dependent upon Him! We're now more available to watch Him move on our behalf and for His Glory. He knows our needs and His mercies are new every morning! It's with this sense of "weakness" with respect to us and "expectation" for seeing His miracles that I ask you to join us in this adventure of faith with your prayers for us.

Prayer Requests

  • Finances - Right now, we're having trouble getting the money from the US to France so that we can buy the house. The money appears to be enough (though it leaves us in a different financial position than we've ever been in), but the first attempt at transferring the money took a long time and lots of phone calls to set up and then it didn't work. Please pray for a way that works, is in God's timing, and for the right exchange rate. Pray also that we would not bow to the spirit of mammon in this transaction. Jesus said that you could not serve God and Mammon at the same time. It's true that if either lots of money/things or a lack of money/things consumes us, we will have a difficulty in trusting God and being obedient to Him in faith. I can see some of the areas where Mammon attacks us when I get worried about things/money. I really want that out of my life!
  • Health - This cold is a real challenge right now and Angela's not completely recovered either. Rachel and Noah have had it and Noah's ears are quite blocked up from it. Olivia is the sole survivor at the moment...and the weakest naturally in the family. Pray for healing in our family and peace in our hearts and supernatural strength when we feel weak as we have to lift heavy things and generally be in what experts say is one of the most stressful seasons of life...a home move!
  • Moving teams - As we wait on this move we can't really ask people to help yet as we've no dates yet. So pray that when we ask for moving help here to load the truck and there to unload it that God will send the right people (angels) to help us.
  • Moving truck - We've had to go with a smaller truck. So pray for creative ways for us to get what needs to be there, up there, and dispose what needs to be disposed of. We also have a potential driver of the truck which would keep us from having to go back down and return the truck and then take a train back up. So, pray for a logistical and financial solution for the move itself.

Love,
David and the family
