Leigh Family Prayer Newsletter - June 2003

May 31, 2003

As most of you read in our most recent general newsletter, we have a future direction after language school! This is something we and you all have been praying about for some time and we can say, "Thank You Lord!" for the answer. Also another "thank you" to the Lord and to you who responded to my call for books. I think between used and new books that people are sending, my needs have been covered. God is faithful and continues to show that to us. Even so, we often need reminding as new challenges continue to form before our very eyes. ;c)

Now, we have two general categories of prayer requests in this never-ending adventure. They are the activities involved with "finishing well" here at language school in Albertville and the whole, multi-faceted process involved with moving back to France for the YWAM school that starts in September.

Prayer Requests

  • Language - of course it's the reason we're here. But, as my professor here often states, learning French is not the objective but expressing the Gospel of Jesus is. But for us, French is a necessary tool and we want to learn to use this tool as well as possible. Right now we're tired from studying since the beginning of October, thinking about what life will be like in the fall, and trying to organize all the issues surrounding the move. Motivation to study French? What's that?! 'nuff said!
  • Chorale - Angela and I are leading the students in 3 choral pieces for our graduation. We have one or two more rehearsals and a bunch of work to do. Pray for this to be real worship that glorifies the Lord.
  • Cleaning - We're required to clean our apartment quite thoroughly before we leave. This happens while we're living it and trying to study for final exams. We need energy!
  • Final exams - Again the goal is not perfect French, but skill in using the French language as a tool for the Gospel. Studying for the final exams is not fun but it will be helpful for us to review all that we've learned this year. I feel like my head is full and it's hard to put anything else in there! Pray we can get our heads around all the stuff we've learned!
  • Immigration issues - We need some changes in either our visas and/or our residence permits to stay in the country past August and to be involved in YWAM activities instead of being students. We need help in working with the local authorities because of the language issues and because some things seem to be discretionary in nature. It would be very helpful if we could get this accomplished during the next month while we're here in France. It promises to be much harder and complicated if we have to do things from Scotland. Please pray for people to be able to help us in this and for favor with the French government.
  • Moving issues - We need to store some stuff in France, move ourselves and some of our stuff back to Scotland, sell our house, sell our car, then move even more stuff from Scotland back to France, buy a car in France, and find a place to live in France. For me, this often feels like both a financial and logistical nightmare. I know that God has a solution for it all but we really need your prayers for peace and for provision in these areas.

In French we would say, "Ça suffit!" which roughly translated in this case means "That's plenty!" (or if you're into the movie Babe, "That'll do pig...that'll do!") I'll pray for good knee pads for you all as you pray for us. ;c)

Please let us know your prayer requests. We desire to be agents of support for you too!

Our love and prayers,
David, Angela, Rachel, Noah, Olivia
